- Abstract
Objectives. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between attachment in adulthood (attachment anxiety and avoidance), hope and resilience (concepts locus of control and sense of coherence). Sample and setting. A total of 84 participants (67% women and 33% men), age 17 to 72 years, completed an online survey consisting of the Czech vision of measures: the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale, Internal-External Scale, the Sense of Coherence Questionnaire and the Adult Hope Trait Scale. Statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, nonparametric Spearman's correlations and multiple linear regression were used. Results. The results showed a negative correlation between an internal locus of control and attachment anxiety, a negative correlation between a sense of coherence and attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance. There was a negative correlation between hope and attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance. Using regression models, it was shown that the predictors (attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance) explain 56% of the variability of the sense of coherence total score and 35% of the variability of hope total score. Study limitation. The study used a non-representative research sample, size N=84, with higher participation of women than men. Not all of the measures used in this study were standardised in the Czech condition. Only the self-report measures were used in this study.
