- Abstract
The literature examines the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on employee engagement considering its external dimension (CSR towards external stakeholders) without taking into account its internal dimension (CSR towards employees). The present study investigates how internal CSR influences employee engagement. It also examines the mediating mechanism of organizational trust in the relationship between internal CSR and employee engagement. The proposed model draws on survey data collected from a sample of 485 employees across selected banks in India. The data was analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results revealed that internal CSR practices have a significant and positive impact on employee engagement. Further, the mediation role of organizational trust was also confirmed.
