- Abstract
This study is interested in the presence of anxiety and depressive symptoms in people living in contexts of poverty in the southeast of Mexico. Through the application of the SRQ-20 Selfquestionnaire to 116 men and 144 women, finding that people living in contexts of poverty are prone to develop negative symptoms related to anxiety and depression, where conditions such as being a woman, single, older and with lower income can increase the odds. It is evident the importance of working with the promotion of mental health tools from a gender perspective, to achieve more comprehensive approaches that allow people to develop their potential, handle difficult situations and contribute to their own personal and community strengthening.
