- Abstract
This article reports the findings of a qualitative study in which the educational representations of English teachers in public elementary schools in Medellin were explored in order to achieve comprehensive education processes in students. To examine these representations, nineteen teachers with professional training in foreign language teaching were surveyed, and some were administered a indepth interview. The fi ndings suggest that the teachers' didactic representations refl ect an educational system based on some pedagogical trends as well as on some psychological considerations, and that integrates the categories of methods, objectives, contents, instructional resources, evaluation, and dynamics within the class.
