- Abstract
The best model in practice is the one developed and validated using long time series data. In practice however, specialized fields such as water quality modeling of rivers do not necessarily have long time series data. This makes modeling very difficult in such cases of limited monitored records. This paper presents the use of cross-validation technique to support the development and evaluation of useful regression models for water quality modeling of rivers under the case of single data record. The models were tested and they showed practical relevance for the water quality monitoring and management of rivers.
