- Abstract
Reactive dyes were synthesized from cyanuric chloride and 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene- 3-6-disulphonic acid by condensation, diazotization, activation and coupling reaction. The colorimetric properties and fastness of these dyes were measured. The influence of diamine-bridge which joins two chromophore systems on the degree of dye exhaustion from the dye bath was examined. The synthesized dyes exhibited very good dye properties. When applied to the material especially cellulose, provided strong red to bluish-red shades having very good fastness properties and they were also characterized by high water solubility due to the presence of many salts forming groups. 4,4'-Bis-diaminostilbene-2,2'- disulphonic acid, 1,3-phenylene diamine, 1-4 phenylene diamine are used as bridging group. The dyes applied to cellulose fibers are practically combined with them by a covalent bond in a quantitative manner. These dyes are practically combined with cellulose fibers by a covalent bond in a quantitative manner. The degree of bonding with the fibers increases due to the bridging effect which results an increase in the dye affinity towards cellulose fibers.
