- Abstract
Coating gold nanoparticles with well controlable silica layers is currently finding applications in many nanobiotechnology research fields. In this work, we report the mesoporous encapsulation of gold nanorods (GNRs) in a silica layer through a single-step coating method without using a primer ligand. The obtained hybrid nanostructures were optically and morphologically characterized using surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements and transmission electronic microscopy (TEM). Theoretical simulations were also performed in order to validate the experimentally observed optical response.
