- Title
INTENTIONALITY AND THE "SOCIAL" SPACE OF REASONS.
- Authors

- Abstract
What is the role of social practices as linguistic practices on conceptual activity? If they represent the normative structure of the application of concepts, how do they function? Starting from these questions, I will consider the thesis of Wilfrid Sellars, who introduced the concept of "space of reasons" on which is founded an inferential and social theory of conceptual activity. John McDowell and Robert Brandom move from Sellar's thought and analyze the space of reasons respectively in representational and inferential terms. In my opinion, Brandom's point of view entails a valid description of the social construction of conceptual contents, even though it is subject to criticism about the relationship between objectivity of claims and reference.
