Self-perception and value system as possible predictors of stress.

- Abstract
Bengt Sivberg’s article relating value systems and the experience of stress in nurses is a valuable contribution to understanding the moral outlook on behaviour in the world, an area of study too often neglected. However, there is a small misconception in the literature review that bears correction. In describing the use of James Rest’s Defining Issues Test (DIT), Sivberg notes that: ‘I found no gender differences. If there are any at all, then they are in favour of the women. Perhaps this reflects cultural differences in the matter of gender between North America and Scandinavia.’.
