- Abstract
Data mining has a greater relevance in the study of medical data. Data mining is the process of finding correlations or patterns among dozens of fields in large relational databases. The voluminous data on medicine makes it difficult to determine the medicine utilized or required by the customers. It is observed that seasonal changes affect variably the purchase trends of medicine. For instance, the sale of medicines like antipyretics, anti-diarrheal and antiemetic witnesses a sudden surge in the monsoon season. In contrast, the sale of anti-hypertensive, anti-diabetic and antiepileptic drugs is almost the same all throughout the year. The study tracks the requirements and the consequent purchase of medicine by customers in a locality. For analysis, the paper employs Association Rule Mining (ARM) technique, and a wide range of live medicine dataset has been created and studied.
