- Abstract
An evolutionary programming approach is used for the techno-economic analysis of a wind farm coupled with a pumped storage facility. The optimal day-ahead generating schedule is considered. Wind forecasts contain an element of random error, and several methods of addressing this uncertainty in the optimization process are compared. In this paper, a more advanced bio-optimized optimization--Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO)--which is best suited to this particular problem is used. It improves the revenue to a great extent and decreases the difference in power generated. A bidding strategy, by combining stochastic day-ahead strategy and operational management strategy, is used.
