Sustainability and The Coca-Cola Company: The Global Water Crisis and Coca-Cola's Business Case for Water Stewardship.
- Authors
Walsh, Heather; Dowding, Timothy J.
- Abstract
This paper examines Coca Cola's corporate sustainability strategy in terms of the sourcing, usage and replenishment of water used in its beverage production. A value chain analysis of water is provided, tracing water from its origins in the earth to the finished Coca-Cola products. The major economic, social and environmental issues surrounding sustainable water management are analyzed. Coca-Cola's water stewardship initiatives - from rainwater harvesting in Africa to reducing the water used in its operations - demonstrate sustainable water leadership and provide hope toward finding solutions for waterstressed regions of the world.
