- Abstract
This paper presents the improved designs for the dual loop differential ring Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). Circuits are designed in TSMC 0.18 µm CMOS process with a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The designed ring VCO exhibits a frequency range of 3.23 GHz to 4.33 GHz. The phase noise for output frequency of 3.23 GHz is -85.7 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The power consumption for the maximum oscillation frequency is 1.8150 mW. The proposed design has been further improved using the reverse body bias technique. The proposed circuits show improved performances as compared to the earlier circuits.
