- Abstract
Introduction: Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatrist, is one of the specializations in medicine that focuses to enhance and restore the functional ability and quality of life of those with physical impairments or disabilities. A physician having completed training in this field may be referred to as a physiatrist. The main aim of this study is to assess the attitude and knowledge of medical students on PM&R through a questionnaire-based survey. Materials and Methods: Through an online-based survey, a questionnaire comprising related questions was circulated amidst medical students and the responses were collected. Results: About a majority of the students who took up the survey were not aware of the existence of such a field but are not familiar about its course and career options as well as accessible information regarding the same. Conclusion: PM&R although being an age-old specialization still is not within the access and reach of students for them to have good attitude and knowledge toward it. Awareness and orientations regarding the same are required among the medical fraternity to become more familiar with this specialization.
