- Abstract
Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino(GP) is a traditional Chinese herb. The Gynostemma pentaphyllum polysaccharides were isolated by Q Sepharose Fast Flow column and Superdex 200 column, then we got two homogeneous polysaccharides : GPS-2, GPS-3. The purity, contents and molecular weight of GPS-3 were detected. The protective effect of GPS-2 and GPS-3 on neural ceils damaged by glutamic acid was studied. The results indicated that different concentrations of Gynostemma pentaphyllum polysaccharides all have protection on neural cells damaged by glutamic acid, and have significance difference compared with the group only damaged by glutamic acid.
