- Abstract
Powder mixed electrode discharge machining is a special type of classical electrode discharge machining in which electrical sparks are used for material removal. Powder mixed electrode discharge machining is based on the idea of adding conductive metal powders to dielectric fluid for enhancing process performance. In a continuously stirred dielectric fluid by a stirrer, conductive metal powders that move in the working gap between electrode and work piece are used for transferring current from electrode to work piece. Due to these metal powders, faster sparking, more material removal rate and better surface finish can be obtained. In this paper, a review of research work is presented and possible future implementation of this process is given.
