- Abstract
Objective: In this study, we aimed to examine the quality of life, fatigue and depression status of the cardiac rehabilitation patients', which are thought to affect the compliance to the treatment. Material and Methods: Thirty-one patients and thirty healthy volunteers who applied to our hospital's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department were included in the study. Quality of life measurements of the patients before treatment were evaluated with SF-36 (Short form-36) life scale questionnaire, and their fatigue status was evaluated with Visual Analogue Scale-Fatigue (VAS-F) scale. The HAD (Hospital depression anxiety) questionnaire was used for the depression and anxiety states of the patients. Results : The mean age of the patients was 59.3 ± 8.5 years. VAS fatigue scores, HAD depression and anxiety scores in the patient group were significantly higher than healthy controls (p <0.05). In the intragroup analysis of the patient group, all sub-parameters of SF 36 had a significant negative correlation with HAD depression and anxiety (p <0.05). Conclusions: According to the results of this study, it was seen that the emotional status of cardiac rehabilitation patients was impaired and the fatigue increased. To provide the compliance of these patients to the rehabilitation program the necessary psychosocial support should be given before the treatment.
