- Abstract
This study aims to investigate the childhood abuse experiences of adolescents' who are educated in the different types of high schools in terms of their gender, income level and parental education status. The study group for the research consists of 703 students who are studying at different types of high schools; 383 of which is girls (54.3%) and 321 of which is boys (45.7%). The data was collected by using a personal information form prepared by researchers and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire. In data analysis, SPSS 22.00 was used; Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney U test analysis techniques were applied. It can be concluded that the average sexual abuse scores of males were found to be significantly higher according to the girls' sexual abuse average scores and the average of males' emotional abuse scores were significantly higher than the girls' emotional abuse score averages. It has also been found that emotional abuse from childhood traumatic experiences varies based on income level. It was found that childhood traumatic experiences did not differ according to parental education status. The findings are discussed in the light of literature information. It is thought that the results of this research will contribute to the determination of the cases of childhood abuse experiences of the adolescents and to plan the preventive activities in this context.
