- Abstract
The purpose of the research is to identify the learning modalities of teacher candidates and whether their learning modalities vary in terms of department, gender, economic condition variables. The present research was designed in descriptive survey model. Research consists of 399 teacher candidates studying at classroom teaching and pre-school teaching departments at Necmettin Erbakan University. "BIG 16 Learning Modality Inventory" was used to collect data. Findings obtained that, learning modality of most teacher candidates is "visual modality" (57.9%), which followed by "auditory modality" (20.8%), and "kinaesthetic modality" (4.6%). Additionally, statistical analyses presented that, there were significant differences across genders in terms of kinaesthetic and auditory modalities. There are significant differences between students in terms of their departments, mother-father educational background, and economic condition perceptions.
