- Abstract
The present works incorporate the estimation of andrographolide percentage and proximate principles along with the chlorophyll contents of Kalmegh at different growth stages. The biochemical estimation was done at growth stage of 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120 and 135 days of growth stages. The andrographolide % in fresh and dry leaves was estimated through HPLC analysis and it was found to be maximum at 120 days. Similarly, the proximate principle viz; fat, protein, fiber and ash % was found to be maximum at 120 days. Finally, the chlorophyll a & b, and carotinoid content were maximum at 120 days. The result revealed the progressive pattern of increase in all the biochemical parameters and there after these parameters decreases. Thus, the crop should be harvested after 120 DAS of maturity for maximum extraction of medicinally important andrographolide.
