- Abstract
Objectives: HSP70 genes polymorphisms have been investigated in different conditions with an immune component, including spondyloarthritides. The +1267A/G polymorphism in HSP70-2 gene showed a significant association with undifferentiated spondyloarthritis (USpA) in Mexican Mestizo patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of two known polymorphisms of the HSP70 genes with USpA in Romanian patients. Methods: +190G/C polymorphism of the HSP70-1 gene and +1267A/G polymorphism of the HSP70-2 gene were genotyped by Real-Time PCR and PCR-RFLP, respectively, in 79 unrelated Romanian patients with USpA and 102 healthy unrelated ethnically matched controls. Their association with USpA susceptibility was analyzed with software package PLINK v 1.07. Results: Alleles or genotypes frequencies did not differ significantly between cases and controls for any of the investigated polymorphisms, nor for the derived haplotypes. The results of this study show that the two polymorphisms in the HSP70 genes do not contribute to the risk of undifferentiated spondyloarthritis in the Romanian population.
