- Abstract
Introduction: cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of death in the world. Origin-background of cardiovascular disease goes back to childhood and adolescence. High levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), the ratio of TG/ HDL-C and low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) are considered the main factors in posing a risk. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aerobic exercise on lipid profile in obese adolescents in order to prevent cardiovascular diseases. Methodology: This study was semi-experimental that was applied on 22 non-athlete obese adolescent girls. Subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups experimental (n = 11) and control (n = 11). The experimental group training period was eight weeks, three days a week for 25 to 60 minutes aerobic exercise daily. Lipid profile, body weight and body mass index in the 24 hours before the start of the first training and 24 hours after the last training session in both groups were measured. Results: The Result of Paired-Samples t-test showed that, levels of low-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, total cholesterol, ratio triglycerides/ high-density lipoprotein, weight and body mass index Percentage in the experimental group had significantly decreased. But the levels of high-density lipoprotein increased non-significantly. Conclusion: The results showed that the rhythmic aerobic exercise in obese adolescent girls causes cholesterol transport process increase reversely and improve blood lipid profiles that can be mentioned as a preventive intervention for cardiovascular disease in childhood and adolescence.
