- Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the obsessions about eating healty, eating attitude and the level of anxiety about healty eating of the academic staff at specified scales. Method: A total of 192 academic staff (90 female and 102 male) from various universities participated in the study. A questionnaire was applied to the participants. Participants filled in a questionnaire and the questionnaire includes questions about sociodemographic characteristics and physical activity status in the first part, the Orthorexia Nervosa Rating Scale (ORTO-11) in the second part and finally the Health Anxiety Scale in the third part. The data obtained in this study were evaluated statistically. Results: There was no significant difference among ORTO-11, health anxiety scale mean scores and age of the participants. According to these data, the tendency of orthorexic and tendency of anxiety decreased as age increased. It was determined as, Individuals with a lower body mass index have less orthorexic tendencies; in individuals with higher body mass index, health anxiety scale scores were higher. (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, it was found that health anxiety levels increased when orthorectic behaviors were observed.
