- Abstract
In the present study, the relationship between heart and kidney parameters compared to natriuretic peptide levels in rats having experimentally induced chronic renal failure were aimed to investigate. For this purpose, 60 Wistar albino rats were used as animal material. These rats were divided into two groups as control (10 male and 10 female) and study group (20 male and 20 female). Adenin (1gr/L) were added to the drinking water of the study group during 28 days. On the last day of the experiment, the animals were sacrificed under anaesthesia and blood, kidney, heart and liver samples were collected from all animals. When biochemical parameters examined; Ca+2 (p<0.01) and P (p<0.01) values increased in the study group compared to control group, but AST, ALT, LDH, CK, CKMB and cTn I levels did not change significantly in both groups. Creatinin, urea and BUN, which all are diagnostic markers of kidney, levels increased in the study group as 1.55±0.20 mg/dL, 239.34 ± 22.00 mg/dL and 123.05 ± 15.02 mg/dL respectively. The same values in the control group were 0.34 ± 0.24 mg/dL, 41.07 ±1.39 mg/dL and 19.18 ± 0.6 mg/dL respectively. When natriuretic peptide parameters evaluated; BNP and NT-ProBNP levels increased significantly in the study group and the values were as 79.10 ± 12.64 pg/ml and 84.45 ±17.31 pg/ml respectively and the same values in the control group were 37.93 ± 3.68 pg/ml and 40.01 ± 5.85 pg/ml respectively. In the necropsy, enlargement in kidneys, and fading in their colours were observed in macroscopic examination. But, macroscopic changes in liver and heart were not observed in both groups. In the microscopic examination; tubular dilatation, crystallisation in the intertubular space and giant cell formation, degenerations in the tubuloseptills and tubulointerstitial nephritis were observed in the study group. In contrast, in the control group no changes observed both macroscopically and microscopically. As a result; it was concluded that diagnostic parameters used in the chronic renal failure may have a linear relationship between natriuretic peptides (especially BNP and NT-proBNP).
