- Abstract
This study explored the use of oral examinations in two undergraduate business disciplines, Management and Economics. Specifically, the research objectives were: 1) determine an appropriate oral examination structure, and 2) develop an understanding of student learning with oral examinations. The researchers discovered that many students found the oral examination a constructive activity with 88% stating it was a positive learning experience. Furthermore, 77% indicated they would recommend oral examinations to a friend. Additionally, students (73%) indicated they spent more time with the material, and 50% stated they studied somewhat more or much more than a standard exam.
