- Abstract
Emergency contraception, also known as the "morning-after pill," uses concentrated hormone compounds for a short period of time in the days following sexual intercourse. With the objective of verifying the use of emergency contraception in university students and verifying the form of access to the pill, an exploratory, quantitative approach was conducted with youngsters from health courses of 18 to 30 years during the period from March to April 2017. The study was verified in 270 women, where 60.37% of the young women interviewed stopped using a male condom in some relationship, and that a large proportion never performed the HIV test, leaving to be desired to be aware of the possibility of owning an STD even though it is unprotected, emergency contraception was among the contraceptive methods less used by women, and the male condom is still more preferable.
