- Abstract
The economic crisis in Greece has brought 34.8% of the population to the poverty line and has increased the problems and adversities they face. The present study has been conducted in students from seven junior high-schools of Western Attica, Greece. Their level of self-esteem was initially measured and then the correlation was investigated between self-esteem and the attitudes of students against the sub-scales of self-perception, related to their interpersonal relations. Correlation and regression analysis shows statistically significant relationships between students' attitudes towards self- esteem and attitudes mainly towards their parents. Also, the relation of students to their parents is correlated statistically significant with their attitudes towards behaviour. It seems that interpersonal relations help to strengthen the self-esteem of teenagers in times of economic crisis.
