- Abstract
The article focuses on the integration of augmented reality (AR) technologies to assist student learning of socioscientific topics. It states the development of mobile devices allows for mobile AR environments to provide information overlaying environments or virtual objects to augment learning experiences. It mentions an educational activity in South Korea using Android tablet computers to scan two-dimensional bar codes in a simulation of a school located around 12 kilometers from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant after the earthquake to determine what the radiation levels would have been one day after the hydrogen gas explosion. It talked about activities using the data concerning the impact of nuclear pollution and remediation of polluted soil and examines AR use in education.
