- Abstract
The article focuses on white fibrous papulosis of the neck (WFPN). This condition is characterized by the presence of white papules on the sides and back of the neck. The age of onset ranges from 39 to 79 years. The papules are asymptomatic and increase in number gradually. Histologic features consist of circumscribed areas of thickened collagen bundles in the papillary to mid-dermis. There is also a slight paucity of elastic tissue. UItrastructural changes consist principally of thickened collagen bundles and tightly compacted collagen fibrils. No significant morphologic changes in die elastic fibers were observed. In contrast with Japan, where men are predominantly affected WFPN seems to be more common in women in the Middle East and in Western countries.
