- Abstract
Physical urticarias are distinct clinical entities which are caused by the application of physical stimuli, such as trauma, vibration, heat or cold, solar irradiation, exercise, and contact with water. Most forms of the disorder are acquired, have their onset during young adulthood, and, as a rule, remit spontaneously; long-lasting forms also occur. The coexistence or the sequential appearance of more than one type of physical urticaria in the same subject is frequently observed . The relative incidence of the different types of physical urticaria is also variable. Most investigators appear to agree that dermographism is the most frequent type and accounts for from 7% to almost 10% of all urticarias.
