- Abstract
Human interleukin 16 (IL16) is pro-inflammatory and has been implicated in inducing the chemotactic and immunomodulatory responses of lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils. It has also been shown to induce expression of interleukin 2n receptor in the human T-lymphocyte and inhibit immunodeficiency virus replication. A high degree of structural and functional similarity has been shown in murine and human IL16. A radiation hybrid mapping panel was used to assign human IL16 to chromosome 15q26.3.
