- Abstract
She was treated with a course of albendazole (400 mg twice daily for 7 days), and a repeat ERCP brushing confirmed clearance of I S. stercoralis i infection. CT scan of the abdomen showed dilated proximal common bile duct (CBD) and intrahepatic bile ducts (IHD) and multiple hepatic micro-abscesses. A study from endemic region of Japan reported a significantly higher prevalence of I S. stercoralis i infection in patients with biliary tract cancer compared to controls (18.4% I vs i 7.5%, I P i = 0.03) with adjusted odds ratio 2.7 (95% confidence intervals of 1.1-6.3).
