- Abstract
Hypotheses to explain the associations between asthma and the consequences of COVID-19 infection ASTHMA, ALLERGY AND RISKS OF COVID INFECTION There is an evidence from several epidemiological studies that pre-existing asthma is associated with reduced COVID infection severity. An allergic T-helper lymphocyte type-2 (Th-2) pattern of immune response plays a role in protecting against severe COVID-19 infection, but the same immune mechanisms also increase the risks of long-COVID.
