- Abstract
The article discusses the process and benefits of optimizing the quality of the British national guidelines on sexually transmitted infections and closely related conditions. The specifications for the development of guidelines have been revised to include the key areas of the Appraisal of Guidelines, Research and Evaluation (AGREE) instrument. A summary of the AGREE criteria for the development of high quality clinical practice guidelines is provided.
