- Abstract
Self-medication a worldwide problem3 is common in developing countries like India and is an age old practice. WHO has promoted practice of self-medication for effective and quick relief of symptoms without medical consultation, to reduce burden on health care services, which are often understaffed and inaccessible in rural and remote areas In developed countries, the medicines which are available only on prescription of a medical practitioner are easily available over the counter in developing countries. Hence Self medication has become an important health issues in developing countries like India.
