- Abstract
The article focuses on the proliferation of Scylla paramamosain's aquaculture in China. It could be noted that Scylla paramamosain is the most common mud crab under genus Scylla in the country. The farming of mud crabs has grown rapidly across the country and was approximately 50,000 tonnes in 2003. S. paramamosain is considered to be more abundant along the coasts of the South China Sea among the four mud crab species. However, their classification was held controversial due to their changing taxonomy in the past. It was then argued in 1960 that the genus Scylla has a single species Scylla serrata.
