- Abstract
Coronary embolism disclosing thrombosis on a Medtronic-hall aortic valve prosthesis in aortic position. Between 2003 and 2021, a total of 120 Medtronic-Hall aortic valve replacements were undertaken at our institution. Failure of mechanical prosthetic valves due to pannus and/or thrombus formation is a recognized complication.1 The precise pathogenesis of the pannus tissue remains to be elucidated; however, it is believed to act as a nidus upon which a thrombus may form.
