- Abstract
The article discusses the risk of medical malpractice in medical checks or follow-up appointments for psychiatric outpatient medication management. Emphasis is given on the need to consider the patient population, availability of pre- and postvisit clinical support services and contingency plans in med check appointments for established, new and transfer patients. A hypothetical case vignette is presented to illustrate how factors might help lower the chances of facing a malpractice lawsuit.
