- Abstract
Oral squamous cell carcinoma is a common oral cancer with high morbidity and mortality. There is an urgent need to search for new therapeutic targets and better drugs for the treatment of this disease. In the present study, we have explored the effect of cedrol, a sesquiterpene alcohol with multitude of anticancerous properties, on the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Our results show cedrol to induce generation of reactive oxygen species, apoptosis, and reduction in cell viability of oral squamous cell carcinoma cells. This opens the possibility of cedrol serving as a potential therapeutic agent.
