Abstract
This article focuses on the use of contingent convertible bonds (CoCos). It discusses the composition of CoCos, the future use of CoCos despite skepticism about whether it will prevent a crisis, the increase in its use in the aftermath of the crisis, and the reasons that banks, investors and regulators are in favor of CoCos.
