- Abstract
In order to improve the antibacterial properties of acetate fibers, the cellulose acetate and the sorbic chloride were firstly grafted to synthesize cellulose acetate sorbate (CASA) in N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). Then CASA was dissolved in DMAc/LiCl, and a small amount of cellulose was added to prepare CASA/cellulose/(DMAc/LiCl) spinning solution. Based on rheological properties of the solution, CASA fibers were spun with wet dry spinning method. The morphology, crystallinity, mechanical properties, thermal performance, chemical resistance and antibacterial properties of the fibers were analyzed. The results showed that the CASA/cellulose/(DMAc/LiCl) solution was the shear thinning fluid. The breaking strength of CASA fiber with substituting degree of 1.13 can reach 2.02 cN/dtex, and its weight loss rates in HCl and NaOH solutions were 4.5% and 10.3%, respectively. The bacteriostatic rates of CASA fibers with substitution degree of 0.81 on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 76.5% and 90.2%, respectively. It illustrated that CASA fibers had good chemical corrosion resistance and good antibacterial property, thus widening the applications of acetate fibers in the medical and health fields.
