- Abstract
Cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) suspension, prepared by hydrolysis of sulfuric acid, could form a liquid crystal phase with chiral nematic structure above the critical mass concentration. The chiral structure of cellulose nanocrystal suspension could be preserved after dried, which improved its application potential as optical materials and templates and attracted lots of researchers attentions currently. The formation mechanism and tuning methods of CNC with chiral nematic liquid crystal phase was reviewed, and applications of CNC chiral materials was introduced. In addition, the future development of CNC was prospected.
