- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 15-year-old female with acute urinary retention, and was not sexually active and had not yet reached menarche. An ultrasound scan was performed, which revealed imperforate hymen resulting in a diagnosis of haematocolpometra leading to urinary tract obstruction. She was operated for hymenectomy using a cruciate incision and recovered completely. The article focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of imperforate hymen. INSET: Case Report.
