- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the drivers of order fragmentation in securities clearing and custody. The author says that basic drivers of order fragmentation are pressure on investment managers, high frequency trading and electronic access tools. He also adds that the surge in alternative trading systems (ATSs), multi-lateral trading facilities (MTFs) and internal broker crossing engines has increased order fragmentation in Europe and the U.S.
