- Abstract
This paper describes the results of a research whose objective is to propose a didactic strategy mediated by ICT, to improve literacy skills in first - year students. The problem is addressed from the qualitative approach, looking for the description of the phenomenon through the characterization of the population, which in this case corresponds to the 34 students of the first grade of the educational institution Magdalena, Sogamoso, Boyacá. The diagnosis made through a list of collations allowed to establish that fourteen students present basic performance, low or not, in terms of literacy skills; Of them, four students with special educational needs were identified, reducing the population under study to the remaining ten children. The projection of monosyllable videos, the free software application Sebran's ABC's, G-compris and the final activity resulted in the students showing greater motivation, interest, concentration and appropriation of some literacy skills, noting their effectiveness. The future work will be to determine the importance in the proposed didactic strategy and allow the reflection of the pedagogical and didactic role of educators in the so-called digital era.
