- Abstract
The insect group is highly diverse, occurring from preserved to severely anthropized environments. These organisms can be used as important tools in studies of environmental quality, especially because of their sensitive relationship with vegetation, soil, water and climate. The objective of this work is to identify the entomofauna in a border area of the Area of Relevant Ecological Interest - ARIE Matinha do Pici, and relate it to the flora and the environment. The research area is a fragment of tableland forest situated at the Federal University of Ceará, on the Campus of Pici, Fortaleza/CE. Weekly, during the month of May 2019, passive collections were performed, with the installation of 3 pitfall traps, buried at ground level for 48 hours, as well as, active collections where puçás, cloth sieves and manual capture techniques were used. The associated flora was identified at the family level, and the insects collected were euthanized, counted, preserved in a wet or dry environment, identified, and finally labeled. A total of 718 individuals were collected, distributed among 10 Orders, 61 Families and 11 floristic substrates. The most representative families were Formicidae (44.7%), Termitidae (12.3%), Cicadellidae (5.55%), Curculionidae (4.58%), Membracidae (3.75%) and Acrididae (3.33%). Manual collection and puçá were the collection methods that found the highest diversity. In addition, a positive relationship was observed between abundance and relative humidity (p-value = 0.00). Then, the high representativeness of taxa resistant to anthropization was observed, indicating the occurrence of environmental disturbances. However, further studies are needed on the relationship of meteorological factors with the local entomofauna, especially in different seasons of the year, for a better assessment of the environmental quality of the region, in order to find more cohesive data to be added to the management plan of this conservation unit.
