- Abstract
The objective of the work is to evaluate the effectiveness of MOVENTO (Spirotetramat), INSTAR (Abamectin), OBERON (Spiromesifen) and vegetable oil in the control of red spider mites (Tetranichus urticae and Panonychus citri), in Persian lemon (Citrus latifolia L), in the center of Veracruz. The Persian lemon is a crop that has gained great importance in the Mexican countryside, thanks to the environmental conditions that favor the development of this species. Currently, the states with the highest production are: Veracruz, Michoacán, Oaxaca and Colima, which together contribute 75% of the national production. Today, Mexico ranks second worldwide in the production of the Persian lemon variety, where 70% of the total goes to the domestic market and the rest to the export market, mainly to the US. In the cultivation of Persian lemon, because it is a permanent crop, there is a high group of organisms between beneficial and parasites or pests. It is important to determine which are the species of insects and mites that are pests, to know their behavior and interaction with beneficial species, thus avoiding breaking the existing balance in the crop. The importance of mites in the species Citrus latifolia L., can comprise up to 20% of the pests with the highest economic incidence in different crops including the Persian lemon, this importance increases because the "red spider" directly attacks the quality of the fruit, which causes greater losses in export orchards.
