- Abstract
【Objective】 The antibacterial effect of aqueous extract from Phryma leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Tara combined with antibiotics on ESBLs -producing E. coli was investigated, in order to provide references for expanding medicinal value of P. leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Hara and developing its relative medicinal resource.【Method】TheES- BLs-producing E.coli was induced to passage by combining Chinese herbal medicine with Western medicine. Then the MIC of medicines were determined with double microdilution method.【Result】The result showed that the MIC of P. leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Hara aqueous extract was 125 mg/mL, and the MIC of Ceftriaxone, Ceftazidime, Ceftiofur, Cefotaxime, Amoxicillin, Fosfomycin, Colistin, Mequidox, Sulfamonomethoxine, Amikacin, Florfenicol, Azithromycin, Rifampicin decreased by more than four times since the fourth generation, when combining 1/2 MIC of P. leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Hara aqueous extract with these antibacterial drugs to induce passage of E. coli. However, the MIC of Doxy- cycline, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Levofloxacin, Clinafloxacin, Gatifloxacin increased by more than two times when combining 1/2 MIC of P. leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Hara aqueous extract with these antibacterial drugs to induce passage of E. coli. 【 Conclusion】 When combining P. leptostachaya L. var. asiatica Hara aqueous extract with antibacterial drugs, their synergistic/additive effect or reversing effect of drug resistance can improve antibacterial activity of antibacterial drugs, however, it is inadvisable to combine with fluoroquinolones antibiotics.
