- Title
Learning Management Systems Must Evolve to Curb Student Attrition.
- Authors
Mills, Justin
- Abstract
Student attrition is a growing problem among institutions. Schools are trying to grow in population while maintaining the current students enrolled. One method of growth is online classes which reach a larger population of students. However, the current offering of courses through online Learning Management Systems are bland and repetitive which contribute to the attrition problem. One solution to this problem would be to redesign how schools offer courses to students. Another solution would be to change the role of the instructor to utilize more of their personal/academic skills and experiences rather than just presenters of information and graders. If these changes can be made, schools can have a positive effect on student attrition and therefore address the concerns of multiple entities.
